Siebel Smoothie

If there’s one thing I’ve learned as a long time Siebel expert, it’s that a good breakfast is essential to see you through a hard days work.

So, I wanted to share my secret recipe for an ideal breakfast smoothie – lots of goodness and plenty of energy to see you through a full session on Siebel Tools. Enjoy!

Siebel Smoothie (Serves 2)

You’ll need:

  • 2 bananas
  • 4 tablespoons porridge oats
  • 2 tablespoons thick, natural yoghurt
  • 1 handful of blueberries
  • 1 desert spoon of chopped hazelnuts
  • 1 desert spoon of runny honey
  • 1 handful of ice cubs
  • Fresh apple juice
  • Milk

Method:

  • Break the bananas into a blender
  • Add blueberries, chopped nuts, oats, yoghurt and honey
  • Pour in apple juice until ingredients are almost covered
  • Add milk up to around the 750ml mark
  • Add a few ice cubes to chill
  • Whizz and serve

As you can probably tell, I’ve not had much time to write much blog material, but I do have a couple of articles simmering away in the background. Watch this space!

UPDATE: Siebel Bookshelf seems to have something to say about my recipe.

Siebel 8.2.2 Released via eDelivery

I’ve just noticed that Siebel 8.2.2 Public Sector is now available on eDelivery – under ‘Windows 64-bit’ no less!

Does this mean full 64-bit support for Siebel Servers?! Can we finally say goodbye to 3.2 GiB and PAE? I wonder what other, exciting features we can expect to see!

Am downloading now with update to follow – stay tuned! :)

Oracle extend support for Siebel 8.1

Looking on My Oracle Support the other day, I noticed that Oracle are quoting August 2013 as the date that Premier Support ends for Siebel 8.1.x, in a document dated August 2010. As this is 5 years since the General Availability (GA) date, this is in keeping with standard policy:

However, a quick search reveals an updated document (dated May 2011) that tells a different story:

This is great news for organisations who are happy on the stable 8.1 platform and for those looking to run a 6.x or 7.x upgrade this year. However, what does it say about the future of Siebel 8.2 and beyond? Could this signal the end of Siebel as we know it?

Only time will tell!

Advanced Replication (UPDATED)

I’ll really excited to tell you all that on Tuesday the 8th of March 2011 at 21:20, my wife gave birth to our very first baby daughter: Emily Claire Ollerenshaw – weighing in at 7lb 10oz!

Mother and daughter (wow – can you imagine how crazy it is to say that word?!) are doing amazingly – no complications and all is well.

I’ll leave you with a wee photo and an apology for the dramatic drop in activity on the blog for a few weeks – I reckon I can be forgiven! :)

It’s oh so quiet… shhh… shhh…

Hello my Siebel friends!

The blog has been very quiet recently and I thought I’d better explain: my wife and I are having a baby! It’s wonderful news and I’m more excited than you can believe! However, it brings with it many responsibilities and a plethora of duties and tasks and it has meant that I’ve been unable to write articles for the blog.

I hope you’ll bear with me. There WILL be more articles in the future, I promise! At the moment, my wife and baby to be have to take priority so please accept my apologies for the lack of activity on the blog.

Kindest regards,

Oli
